What a GFRP bar weighs against TMT
Steel weight in kg/m is about d²/162. A 12 mm TMT bar is about 0.89 kg/m. Trumbak’s 12 mm GFRP bar is 0.250 kg/m. The same length is roughly a quarter of the lift.
That shows up in truck count, in how many bars one person carries, and in precast piece weight. It does not show up as a free increase in stiffness. GFRP is lighter because the material is lighter, not because the section is stronger in bending.
Use the size tool on the products page for 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm. A 10 mm GFRP bar is 0.175 kg/m. Those weights are our nominal figures. Confirm the lot before you freeze a bar schedule or turn a kg rate into a metre rate.
