Why GFRP rebar cannot be bent on site
TMT yields. A fitter heats nothing and pulls it around a pin. GFRP does not yield. The glass fibres are already cured inside the resin. A site bend snaps fibres or leaves a kink that is not in anyone’s test.
If the bar-bending schedule has hooks, cranks or stirrups, those shapes have to be made under factory control, or the detail has to change to straight bars, laps and anchors the drawing allows. Do not send a coil to the yard and expect the smith to ‘adjust’ it.
Trumbak’s standard supply is straight bars up to 12 m, and coils up to 100 m in 6 mm and 8 mm. Tell us the bend schedule before production if you need shaped bars. We would rather refuse a detail than ship a bar someone will crack on a pin.
